It looks like the restaurant boom in the Kendall Square section of Cambridge is continuing.
According to a License Commission General Hearing page within the City of Cambridge website, The Ames Street Deli is seeking a liquor license for its proposed place at 73 Ames Street, which is just south of the Main Street intersection. The post mentions that Joseph Cammarata is the manager of the restaurant, which brings up speculation that the folks behind backbar in Somerville's Union Square could be behind this spot, as Joe Cammarata is the bartender there. (As soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.)
It appears that The Ames Street Deli would have a capacity of 142 and would be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, with possible hours being 7:00 AM to 1:00 AM seven days a week.
[February 5 update: Eater Boston has more or less confirmed (via Massachusetts Public Notices) that the folks behind backbar are involved with The Ames Street Deli, as backbar co-owner Tse Wei Lim is one of the members of the LLC for the proposed eatery.]
[June 16 update: The Boston Globe says that a second spot called Study will also open in the Ames Street space, with Study being a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and The Ames Street Deli being a place for sandwiches and drinks. It looks like both could be open by the end of the summer.]
[November 20 update: According to multiple sources, including posters on the Chowhound site, Study and Ames Street Deli are in the middle of a soft opening (confirmed by an Instagram photo from Ames Street Deli), with sources saying that the restaurants may be opening on Monday (note--this last bit of info has not been confirmed by the restaurants as of yet).]
[November 24 update: Eater Boston states that Ames Street Deli indeed opens today, though Study will not be opening until early December.]
[December 8 update: Based on its Facebook page, Study had a soft opening a few days ago, though a phone call placed to the restaurant indicates that it won't be having its official opening until sometime next week.]
[December 9 update: According to a new post from Eater Boston, Study decided to open its doors yesterday rather than next week as they had previously said.]
