Gyu-Kaku Is Opening in Cambridge's Harvard Square

A Japan-based chain of "yakiniku" (grilled meat/barbecue) restaurants is looking at opening its second Boston-area location, with this one being in one of the busiest sections of Cambridge.

A License Commission General Hearing page within the City of Cambridge website mentions that Gyu-Kaku is planning to open on Eliot Street in Harvard Square, with the proposed dining spot being open for lunch and dinner daily and having seating for 118 (plus 12 more patio/terrace seats outside). If the city approves of a license transfer from the now-closed Bertucci's on nearby Brattle Street and all goes as planned, the eatery will join another location on Beacon Street in Brookline near the Boston line.

Gyu-Kaku focuses on BBQ beef dishes, with short rib, prime rib, lamb, duck, spicy pork, and more offered. The chain has a number of locations in California and a handful of others in several other states, along with restaurants in Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore.

The address for this new dining spot in Harvard Square is: Gyu-Kaku, 18 Eliot Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The website for the chain can be found at http://gyu-kaku.com/
