Smoken' Joe's BBQ and Blues in Brighton Is Closing

Late last year, we reported that a BBQ spot in Brighton that features live music was temporarily closed and in danger of losing its home. The place ultimately reopened, but now we have learned that it will be closing for good later this month.

One of our readers let us know today that Smoken' Joe's BBQ & Blues is shutting down for good, with the restaurant's Facebook page saying the following in a note: "It is with tremendous sadness that Joe & Wendy announce the closing of Smoken' Joe's Barbeque & Blues as of September 23, 2014....We invite you to stop in between now and September 23rd to say goodbye and enjoy the food and music....Best wishes to all of our friends and supports and please don't forget to support the blues!"

[September 23 update: Smoken' Joe's BBQ & Blues confirms via a Facebook post that today is its last day in business, with the note saying "we have reached the end."]

The Facebook note mentions lost money from its shutdown last fall, health issues, and an ongoing conflict between the owners and the landlord as reasons for the closure.
