Three Restaurants in Cambridge's Kendall Square Sustain Damage in Fire

A two-alarm fire hit the Kendall Square section of Cambridge over the weekend, forcing three dining and drinking spots to close for the time being.

Eater Boston is reporting (via NECN) that a fire broke out at Flat Top Johnny's last night, with the blaze also resulting in damage to the Blue Room and Beantowne Coffee House. Flat Top Johnny's, which is a dining and drinking spot that is a popular place to play pool, mentions on its Facebook page that it will be "closed until further notice," while the Blue Room simply states on its website that its "lunch grill is closed" (and it is currently not taking reservations), and Beantowne Coffee House says via Facebook that "our store was destroyed last night...the fire didn't enter our store, but a few hundred gallons of water supplied by the great guys at the Cambridge FD sure did!"

While Beantowne Coffee states that they will be having a "grand re-opening" at some point, none of the three are saying when they might reopen at this point in time.

No one was injured in the blaze, according to NECN.

[September 1 update: All three dining spots affected by the fire have posted updates to their social media pages, with Flat Top Johnny's saying that they will be "working over the next few weeks" to get the place up and running again, the Blue Room mentioning that they (and Belly Wine Bar) will be "closed until further updates," and Beantowne Coffee House simply stating that they are on "Day 2 of rebuild."]
