Amrheins in South Boston Reopens After Being Closed for Renovations for a Few Weeks

Yesterday we reported that an iconic South Boston restaurant had been closed for a few weeks and it was not known for sure what would be happening to the place. Now we have learned that it is getting ready to reopen.

According to a Twitter post from @ConciergeBoston, Amrheins on West Broadway opens its doors once again tomorrow (Saturday, February 13) after undergoing renovations. It is not known what changes have been made to the dining and drinking spot--and all kinds of rumors and chatter have taken place in the past 24 hours with no confirmation of anything--so check back for updates here as we get them.

[February 17 update: Boston Magazine states that the newly-renovated Amrheins has a freshened dining area and bar--including a new white marble bar top--and that the menu still includes classic American fare such as pot roast and shepard's pie. (The post mentions that this was more of a facelift than a "structural renovation.")]

Amrheins is one of the oldest restaurants in Boston, having been in business since 1890; about ten years ago it closed for renovations and reopened as a slightly more upscale spot than in its previous incarnation.

The address for Amrheins is 80 West Broadway, South Boston, MA, 02127. Its website is at http://amrheinsboston.com/
