Local 149 in South Boston Closed Until Further Notice After Being Damaged by Flooding

An upscale restaurant and pub in South Boston is shuttered for the time being after suffering water damage in a flood late last week.

Eater Boston is reporting that Local 149 on P Street is currently closed and will remain so while it figures out what repairs need to be made after a sprinkler pipe in the apartment above it burst early Friday morning, Based on Facebook posts from the place as well as the EB article, the people behind Local 149 are now waiting for the space to completely dry out before they can figure out the exact extent of the damage; decisions include whether its "beautiful antique ceiling" will need to come down as well as seeing if they need to "rip the whole place apart."

As of now, it looks like Local 149 could be closed for as many as several weeks or even longer, though it depends on how much has to be done in the way of repairs. (Inspectional services has shut down the entire building for now to make sure it is "safe and inhabitable," according to Eater Boston.)

[March 25 update: A Facebook post from last Friday said that Local 149 could be reopening this week, while a post from today says it is "almost ready."]

The Neighborhood Restaurant Group, which runs Local 149, is also behind The Biltmore in Newton, Biltmore & Main in Reading, and the soon-to-open Article 24 in Brighton.

The address for Local 149 is 149 P Street, South Boston, MA 02127. Its website can be found at http://local149.com/
