Smith & Wollensky Sold to Irish Investment Firm

A Boston-based group of high-end steakhouses has been acquired by an investment firm that is headquartered in Ireland.

According to an article in Nation's Restaurant News, a Bunker Hill Capital LP consortium has sold Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group Inc. to Dublin-based Danu Investment Partners Ltd. for an undisclosed amount, with all eight U.S. locations except for the New York outlet of the restaurant being included in the deal. (The Manhattan location is owned by Quality Branded Restaurant Group.) The article says that Danu already runs a London location of the steakhouse, which it opened under license from Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group last year. It appears that the Wollensky's Grill concept, which has a sole location in Chicago, is also part of the deal as well.

The two locations of Smith & Wollensky in Boston can be found at "The Castle" on Arlington Street in the Back Bay and at Atlantic Wharf on Commercial Street along the waterfront.

The website for Smith & Wollensky is at http://www.smithandwollensky.com/
