Mike's Pastry Is Opening in Somerville's Assembly Row

A landmark pastry shop in Boston's North End is going to be expanding once again, this time to a growing development just north of the city.

Eater Boston is reporting that Mike's Pastry is planning to open in Somerville's Assembly Row, moving into a space within the upcoming Partners HealthCare building as part of Phase II of the development. If all goes as planned, the new location of the shop could be opening sometime in 2017, according to EB.

Mike's Pastry, which first opened in the North End in 1946, is a Hanover Street institution that is known for such items as lobster tails, cannoli, biscotti, and more. A second location of the store opened on Dunster Street in Cambridge's Harvard Square in the fall of 2014.
