Boca Grande Near Cambridge's Porter Square Has Closed

What was once a local group of Mexican restaurants is now down to just one, as its original location has abruptly closed.

Ron Newman of Davis Square LiveJournal stated last night (via a source) that Boca Grande near Cambridge's Porter Square has shut down, with Rich O's Ravings confirming this, saying that there is a sign out front referring customers to its sole remaining location by the CambridgeSide Galleria in East Cambridge. Other locations of the Mexican eatery have also shuttered of late, including shops in Brighton Center, Brookline's Coolidge Corner, and Boston's Kenmore Square; a call placed to the East Cambridge outlet last night indicates that it does remain in operation.

The original Mass. Ave. location of Boca Grande had been in business since the mid-1980s.

The address for this now-closed Mexican restaurant near Porter Square was: Boca Grande, 1728 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138. The website for the remaining shop in East Cambridge is at http://www.bocagranderestaurant.com/
