Refuge Cafe in Allston Planning to Close

A cafe in Allston is getting ready to close after five years in business.

According to a tweet from @goodrichster, Refuge Cafe is planning to shut down on September 30, with a Facebook post from the Brighton Avenue eatery seeming to confirm this. No reason has been given for the restaurant's closure at this point in time; as soon as we find out why it might be shuttering, we will post an update here.

Refuge Cafe first opened in September of 2011, offering bagels, breakfast burritos, sandwiches, coffee, tea, smoothies, and more. The dining spot had previously been home to the Allston Cafe which had been in the space for about 25 years.

The address for this soon-to-close eatery in Allston is: Refuge Cafe, 155 Brighton Avenue, Allston, MA 02134

[September 29 update: According to an employee at the restaurant, Refuge Cafe will not be closing tomorrow after all; it will be open at least through next week.]

[October 6 update: A new Facebook post from Refuge Cafe indicates that it will now remain open for the "foreseeable future."]
