East Ocean City in Boston's Chinatown Has Apparently Closed

A longtime favorite in the Chinatown section of Boston has shut its doors.

According to a source, East Ocean City on Beach Street is no longer in business, with a sign on the door apparently saying that the owner may be reconcepting the space. This seems to jibe to an extent with a post from last month from the Boston Chinatown Blog that said there was chatter about the dining spot shutting down and the owner of the restaurant--and the building--possibly looking into opening a new hotel at the site, though it was not known at the time whether a dining spot might be part of the hotel. (Phone calls to the restaurant went unanswered today.)

East Ocean City, which first opened in 1991, has been an industry favorite over the years, in part for its fresh seafood and Peking duck.

The address for the now-closed East Ocean City in Chinatown was 27 Beach Street, Boston, MA, 02111.
