Kirin Teppanyaki & Wok Taking Over Former Redneck's Roast Beef Space in Allston

A new Asian restaurant is opening in Allston, and it is taking over the space where a late-night eatery that was popular with college students and clubgoers had been.

According to a licensing board page within the city of Boston website, Kirin Teppanyaki & Wok is replacing Redneck's Roast Beef, which had been in the Brighton Street space for a bit more than a decade before closing either late last year or early this year (and it had apparently changed to Cafe Mitti before shutting down, though the Redneck's sign remained). A website for Kirin is currently up and running and it indicates that it may already be open, though we are trying to confirm this; the site shows a mix of Chinese and Japanese dishes including such items as boneless spare ribs, crab rangoon, sushi, teppanyaki steak, pork belly udon soup, and beef with mixed vegetables.

Redneck's was known in part as an after-hours spot for such items as pizza, calzones, roast beef, pulled pork, and steak tips.

The address for Kirin Teppanyaki & Wok (and the former Redneck's Roast Beef) is 140 Brighton Ave, Boston, MA 02134. The website for Kirin can be found at http://kirinteppanyakiandwok.com/

[September 22 update: Eater Boston states that Kirin Teppanyaki & Wok is now open.]
