Tokyo Restaurant Property in Cambridge May Be Torn Down to Make Way for Affordable Housing

It looks like the site of a long-closed restaurant in Cambridge could be demolished, with affordable housing being built in its space.

Wicked Local Cambridge is reporting that the City Council has voted to have the city manager look into the feasibility of buying the vacant building on Fresh Pond Parkway that had once been home to Tokyo Restaurant and putting up affordable housing units there. The article says that this comes on the heels of a discussion focusing on vacant properties around Cambridge, though in this case, the owner of the former Tokyo Restaurant property is "amenable to selling the property," as stated in a policy order that was filed by the vice mayor and a city councilor.

The address for the Tokyo Restaurant property is 307 Fresh Pond Parkway.
