It looks like a South Shore restaurant and bar may be shutting down, as new development could be coming to the space.
According to an article from the Weymouth News and Wicked Local, the Main Street Grille in South Weymouth could be closing its doors, as co-owner Chris DiMambro is planning to tear down the building in which it resides along with four other structures at the site, using the five lots to build a new structure with 153 residential units, commercial space, and parking spaces. The post indicates that DiMambro may decide to open a new restaurant on the first floor of the five-story building, though this is apparently not written in stone as of yet, and the zoning board of appeals has held a meeting on the building proposal which will be continued on June 27, while the conservation commission will also need to give its approval because of wetlands which are located in the back.
The Main Street Grille is a neighborhood tavern that offers mostly pub grub and classic American fare along with beer, wine, and cocktails.
The address for the Main Street Grille is 1400 Main Street, Weymouth, MA, 02190.
