A neighborhood grocery store on the North Shore that focuses on sustainability is shutting down.
According to a Facebook post from the place, Milk & Honey Green Grocer in Salem is closing its doors around the end of July, with owner Sharon Driscoll saying that "Due to staffing issues, rising costs, external challenges and my unwillingness to compromise on quality and sustainability, I can no longer run Milk and Honey as I originally dreamed back in 2010." The post goes on to say that the Church Street shop will try to go about business as usual through June, then scale back operations next month with an exact closing date being announced at some point.
Milk & Honey Green Grocer is known in part for its salads, sandwiches, prepared foods, and grocery items with a focus on locally-sourced foods and the use of small-scale distributors.
