What was once a small local group of casual dining spots will soon be down to just one, as another one of its locations is shutting down.
An article from Wicked Local confirms rumors that we have been hearing over the past couple of weeks, that Spud's Restaurant & Pub in Saugus is closing at the end of this month, with the general manager of the Lincoln Avenue eatery citing slow sales and a "lack of staffing" as reasons for its closure. It appears that the sole remaining location of the restaurant will continue to operate in Rowley, though if this changes, we will post an update here. (Spud's used to have outlets in Danvers, Woburn, and North Hampton, NH as well.)
The Saugus location of Spud's had been in business since 1989.
The address for Spud's Restaurant & Pub is 22 Lincoln Avenue, Saugus, MA, 01906. The website for Spud's can be found at http://spudsrestaurant.net
[July 1 update: It appears that Spud's in Saugus has indeed closed, as phone calls today went unanswered and Selectman Jeffrey Cicolini mentions in an article from Advocate News Online that its last day was indeed June 30.]
