Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar in Boston's Financial District Is Closing

by Marc Hurwitz

A restaurant and bar in downtown Boston that came under new ownership last year is shutting down for good next week.

According to a source, Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar in the city's Financial District is officially closing October 1, with a check on the website for the Water Street spot confirming this, referring customers to Stoddard's Fine Food & Ale on Temple Place in Downtown Crossing. The owners and operators of Stoddard's took over Vanderbilt in May of 2017, reopening the place a month later with the concept being similar to Stoddard's, with classic and New American dishes offered along with local craft beers, vintage cocktails, and more. Vanderbilt has actually been locked up and dark for the past couple of months, but there has been no official word on its status until now.)

Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar resides in a former bank building and had been called The Vault until changing its name in 2015.

The address for Vanderbilt is 105 Water Street, Boston, MA, 02109.

[September 25 update: A message sent to us confirms that Vanderbilt Kitchen & Bar has already closed and that the October 1 date is simply an official closing date.]
