A decades-old ice cream shop has expanded to a second location, opening within a dining spot known in part for its lobster rolls.
According to an article from Wicked Local, Soc's Ice Cream in Saugus has opened a new outlet inside Lobstah on a Roll in Salem, with the new shop leasing space inside the Lafayette Street restaurant. The post says that ice cream is brought into the Salem outlet from the original on the Lynn Fells Parkway in Saugus (which is where the ice cream is made), and that a total of 14 flavors are offered, compared to 38 flavors at the Saugus location. The new location of Soc's will be open all year long, with hours being 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
Lobstah on a Roll first opened in April of this year, joining another outlet in the South End of Boston; the Saugus location of Soc's has been in business for 40 years.
