A new Chinese restaurant has come to Allston, and it replaces a beloved Chinese spot that was a favorite among restaurant critics and industry people alike.
According to a poster within the Friends of Boston's Hidden Restaurants Facebook group page, BOS’ Sichuan Taste is now open in the space on Harvard Avenue that had been home to Shanghai Gate. The poster mentions that while the name, decor, and owners have changed, the host and chef from Shanghai Gate are apparently working at the new restaurant. A menu has not been seen for BOS' Sichuan Taste as of yet; as soon as we find out what is on the menu, we will post an update here.
Shanghai Gate was known for such items as pan-fried noodles, lion's head casserole, soup dumplings, braised pig knuckles, sliced sea conch, and sizzled eggplant with pork and garlic.
The address for the new BOS' Sichuan Taste (and the now-closed Shanghai Gate) is 204 Harvard Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134.
