Just Got Back from San Diego

I just got back from San Diego, and once again, it was a great time. The weather was perfect, the people were friendly, and the restaurants were mostly very good. Some of the standout restaurants that I went to were Borrelli's in Encinitas (Italian food), Las Olas in Cardiff-by-the-Sea (Mexican food), Nattiya's in San Marcos (Thai cuisine), Pipes Cafe in Cardiff-by the Sea, and the Tea Pavillion in the Japanese Friendship Garden within Balboa Park, San Diego.

I also got one of those amazing Julian pies at a market in Encinitas, and had several donuts from VG Donuts and Bakery in Cardiff. Too many calories, too much sweets, but boy the pie and donuts were good!

Need Restaurant Recommendations for San Diego

I may be going on another trip to San Diego (or possibly two trips to San Diego) this summer. I've been there many times, but am always looking for new restaurants to check out. Some of my favorites include Bahia Don Bravo in La Jolla, Hodad's in Ocean Beach, Fidel's in Solana Beach, Point Loma Seafoods in the Point Loma section of San Diego, and the Coyote Cafe in the Old Town section of San Diego.

I really want to find some top Mexican restaurants when I go (in addition to the ones mentioned above). If anyone out there has a favorite Mexican restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter, in San Diego and the surrounding area, let me know. Thanks!

Restaurant Options for Mother's Day in Boston, 2006

Well, we are still debating what restaurant to go to for Mother's Day. Most restaurants in the Boston area will be really crowded that day, and some jack up the prices and only offer limited menus (they tend to do this on many holidays these days).

We do have a couple of restaurants in mind, but I'm going to continue looking around for other places that might be good.

In the past, we have gone to Lake Pearl in Wrentham, Dolphin in Natick, the Continental in Saugus, and Amrheins in South Boston. I don't think we will be hitting any of those restaurants this time around, however.

Where are other people going for Mother's Day? Let me know!

Who Has the Best Steak Tips in Boston?

I know, this is more of a question for a forum rather than a blog, but I would like to hear from people as to what they think the best place is in Boston or the surrounding area for steak tips.

I have been to some places that have great steak tips, such as Joe Sent Me in Cambridge, Strip Ts in Watertown, Cronin's Publick House in Quincy, CF Donovan's in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester, and, of course, the New Bridge Cafe in Chelsea.

What are some other restaurants or pubs that have excellent steak tips? I'd love to hear from people about this, so let me know. Thanks!

More Good New York City Restaurants / NYC Restaurant Forum

Just got back from Manhattan. We went to several good restaurants, including: the Diamond Dairy Restaurant in the back of a jewelry store on 47th Street in the Diamond District; Cucina Stagionale, a cheap, cozy Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village; the Manhattan Diner, one of my favorite breakfast spots in the Upper West Side; and Mimi's Pizza, a very good pizza joint in the Upper East Side. Oh, and of course I couldn't leave New york without getting a bagel from H and H in the Upper West Side and a pastry from Bruno's in Greenwich Village.

When I got back, I noticed that a lot of people were looking at pages on the Boston's Hidden Restaurants site that were related to New York City, be it a blog page, the page on popular and hidden restaurants of New York City, or various other pages dealing with the Big Apple. So I added a new section to our forum that is a New York City Restaurant Forum section. Hopefully people will be able to use it to discuss their favorite restaurants in New York, as well as ask questions about the New York restaurant scene.
