Barley Hall to Replace The Joshua Tree in Allston

A restaurant and sports bar in Allston that recently closed for renovations is going to become a new eatery under the same ownership.

Based on a job posting within the Craigslist site, information from a poster within the Hiddenboston Twitter page, and the restaurant's website itself, the group behind The Joshua Tree on Commonwealth Avenue are going to be opening a neighborhood restaurant and bar called Barley Hall. The new spot will be offering lunch and dinner, as well as an a la carte breakfast on Saturdays and brunch on Sundays.

The folks behind The Joshua Tree also run The Boston Beer Garden near Fenway Park, The Playwright in South Boston, Union Street Restaurant in Newton Centre, and Tavern in the Square in several locations. In addition to these spots, another location of The Joshua Tree remains open in Somerville's Davis Square.

[August 22 update: Based on a post from the Allston/Brighton Twitter page for the Boston Globe, Barley Hall may be opening today. We will try to confirm this as soon as we can.]

The address for this upcoming restaurant will be: Barley Hall, 1314 Commonwealth Avenue, Allston, MA, 02134. The website for Barley Hall can be found at http://www.barleyhall.com/

Are these same owners the new management that took over the Joshua Tree in Allston a few months ago?

If so, I hope they were really serious when their banner advertised a "new attitude"!
