It looks like a chain of cupcake shops will be opening their first location in Massachusetts, with the store being in the heart of downtown Boston.
According to posters on the Chowhound site, Crumbs Bake Shop is planning to open on Federal Street in the Financial District, moving into the space where Copley Flair used to be. We asked (via Twitter) the New York-based chain if they were indeed coming to Boston, and received a response in the form of a smiley face, which seems to confirm what the Chowhound posters said.
[March 13 update: A Chowhound poster mentions that a sign in the side of the doorway of the upcoming Crumbs space in the Financial District indicates it will be opening on Monday, March 19. (The Crumbs Facebook page stated that it would open this week, but the opening has apparently been delayed just a bit.)]
[March 19 update: The Crumbs website states that their Boston location is now open. They also have a special deal through March 30--if you buy one cupcake or taste pack, you get a second one free.]
Crumbs Bake Shop features regular-sized cupcakes as well as "colossal" cupcakes, which are a whopping six and a half inches high. Cupcake flavors include carrot, chocolate, caramel apple, cheesecake, vanilla, candy, cookie dough, mudslide, red velvet, raspberry, coconut, and more.
The address for this new cupcake shop in the Financial District is: Crumbs Bake Shop, 176 Federal Street, Boston, MA, 02110. Their website can be found at http://www.crumbs.com/
