A North End eatery that featured small plates is gone for good, but the folks behind the spot have set up a new Italian restaurant in its space, with more traditional-sized plates featured.
According to The Boston Globe, Ristorante Damiano on Hanover Street has bid farewell to the North End, being replaced by Carmelina's North End. The chef posts on Facebook that the name of the new spot comes from an Amherst restaurant that he ran while in college, and that the new eatery will have a "strong Mediterranean and Sicilian influence." The Globe mentions such dishes on the menu as baby octopus stew, penne gorgonzola, carbonara, Sunday macaroni, mushroom risotto, ossobuco, and pan-roasted swordfish, along with the type of smaller plates for which Ristorante Damiano was known.
The address for the now-closed Ristorante Damiano (and the now-open Carmelina's North End) is 307 Hanover Street, Boston, MA, 02113.
