It looks like a new restaurant is on its way to Brookline Village, and it will apparently be one of the largest eateries in the neighborhood.
Last night a license was issued for Alere (update--name was formerly thought to have been Green Bistro--see above) to open on Washington Street in the heart of the village, about a block north of the Route 9 intersection and just south of the Harvard Street fork. The new dining spot plans to have seating for 189 and will be a multi-story space, with seating on three floors plus a function room on the second floor, a takeout counter on the first floor, and a market area in the basement. It is not yet known what type of cuisine Alere will offer; as soon as we find out more about the place, we will post an update here.
[February 29 update: The Brookline TAB reports that Alere is going to be a farm-to-table spot that will offer American-style dishes using ingredients from local farms. The article also mentions that the restaurant is looking to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a price range of $7.00 to $22.75.]
Alere plans to open its doors sometime in the fall.
