The Boston Globe is reporting that The Shake Shack will be opening in the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center, taking over the space where the Rugged Bear children's store had been. The burger place will be moving into a complex that is undergoing major renovations and will include an array of new shops and restaurants, a new cinema, and more.
[November 29 update: The Shake Shack is still on its way to Chestnut Hill, though the name of the development in which it will reside has changed. According to an article in the Brookline TAB, the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center is going to be renamed "The Street."]
[March 20, 2013 update: Eater Boston says that the new Shake Shack, which opens in Chestnut Hill at 11:00 AM today (according to the restaurant's Facebook page), will have at least a couple of Boston-themed items on the menu, including Revere's Tracks concrete (frozen custard) and Lobstah Shell concrete, and that the dining spot will partner with Birthday Wishes, a local non-profit organization that sets up birthday parties for homeless children (five percent of Lobstah Shell concrete sales will benefit them).]
The new Shake Shack, which will be about 3,000 square feet in size, should be open by next year. It will feature such items as burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, and shakes.
The address for the new Shake Shack is: Shake Shack, 49 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, MA, 02467. Their website can be found at http://www.shakeshack.com/
