Restoration Hardware Plans to Open a Restaurant Adjacent to Its New Back Bay Store

A California-based luxury home furnishings chain that is coming to Boston's Back Bay is looking to add a restaurant furnished by the store itself.

The Boston Herald reports that Restoration Hardware on Berkeley Street plans to open a dining spot located in what would be a new addition adjacent to the shop on the Boylston Street side of the space. The article states that the eatery would have two gas fireplaces along with a basement space set up in the "style of 19th-century conservatory annexes" (the building in which the store resides was built in the 1800s).

The plan is meeting some resistance, with the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay’s Architecture Committee preferring to see outdoor seating rather than an actual addition to the building because of its historic importance.

The address for the upcoming Restoration Hardware (and proposed restaurant) is 234 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA, 02116.
