Bertucci's Closes at the Atrium Mall in Chestnut Hill

A local chain of Italian dining spots has closed one of its Boston-area locations, with this one being in a mall that is struggling for survival.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that Bertucci's at the Atrium Mall in Chestnut Hill is shuttered, with a phone message at the restaurant stating "Thank you for the memories, we’ve truly enjoyed being part of the Chestnut Hill community, please visit our nearby location in Newton Corner." The Route 9 location, which had been open for a decade, is one of a number of businesses that has closed at the mall, and the closing of Bertucci's has now lowered the vacancy rate at the Atrium to below 20%, according to the article.

Bertucci's first started out in 1981 in Somerville's Davis Square and now has just under 100 locations mostly across New England and the East Coast of the United States, with many of them concentrated in the Boston area. Their website can be found at http://www.bertuccis.com/
