Cafe Burrito Is Opening in Belmont

A combination coffee shop/burrito place is on its way to Belmont, making this the first eatery in town to offer Mexican food.

Eater Boston is reporting that Cafe Burrito is going to be opening on Trapelo Road in the space where Angelato used to be, with the person behind the new spot also being the owner of the Studio Cinema, which is next door. The article mentions that the new restaurant will be a coffee shop all day, with Mexican items being offered starting at lunchtime. Cafe Burrito will feature an array of coffees and teas, as well as fruit- and coffee-based smoothies, pastries, burritos, tacos, and a combination grilled cheese/quesadilla.

The new spot is hoping to soft-open on or near August 6, with a grand opening on August 11.

[August 7 update: While a poster on Cafe Burrito's Facebook page states that the restaurant soft-opened yesterday, we have not been able to confirm this, as the restaurant's phone is not being answered. As soon as we find out more (including whether their grand opening is still this weekend), we will post another update here.]

[August 13 update: According to an article in the Belmont Patch and a poster on the Chowhound site, Cafe Burrito is now open for business.]

The address for this new coffee shop/burrito place in Belmont is: Cafe Burrito, 374 Trapelo Road, Belmont, MA, 02478.
