On-Demand Ice Cream Delivery Coming to the Boston Area on Friday, July 13, 2012

A San Francisco-based company that allows people to reserve cars (with drivers) via a mobile app is going to be setting up a one-day service in the Boston area that may be of interest to ice cream lovers.

Grub Street Boston is reporting that on Friday, July 13, Uber will be launching an on-demand ice cream delivery service, with folks being able to order frozen treats from their smartphones. Ice cream will arrive approximately 10 minutes after the order is placed, and the cost will be at total of $12 for five customers. The Boston Globe mentions that Uber will be offering the service from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday.

It is not yet known whether Uber will bring this service back after this Friday--or whether they might make it a permanent service at some point in time. As soon as we find out more, we will post an update here.
