Chez Henri to Pop Up at Parsnip in Cambridge July 28, 2016

A now-closed Cambridge restaurant that featured a legendary sandwich is returning to the city for one night only later this month.

According to a press release, Chez Henri chef/owner Paul O'Connell, along with alums John Hendron, Rembs Layman, Mark Thompson, and Jason Tom, will be reuniting on July 28 at Parsnip on Winthrop Street in Harvard Square for a special dinner that will include Chez Henri's famed Cuban sandwich along with such items as ribs, empanadas, and cocktails. The event is also a fundraiser, with 25 percent of proceeds going to O'Connell's new organization NECAT, whose Culinary Arts Job Training Program helps chronically unemployed/underemployed adults as well as at-risk young adults by way of employment services and job training. Boston Bacon and Beer Festival Coming to Fenway Park, June 12, 2016

A popular event that features two popular food/drink items is returning once again to Boston.

On Sunday, June 12, the 2016 Boston Bacon and Beer Festival will take place at Concourse B within Fenway Park from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with early bird "baller" tickets already on sale and regular tickets going on sale Monday, May 15 at 11:30 AM. As always, the festival is a fundraiser, with proceeds this year going to The Red Sox Foundation, Community Servings, and Lovin' Spoonfuls. (The original Bacon and Beer Festival--which is now in its seventh year--has raised more than $300,000 for non-profit organizations as it has expanded to seven cities across the United States.)

Early bird tickets cost $105 and include expedited event entry, bacon bites, eight three-ounce beer samples, a Red Sox bobble head, a Kegario T Shirt, one pound of bacon, and a Defend Bacon tote; regular tickets cost $52.50 and include event entry, bacon bites, and eight three-ounce beer samples.

Taste of Somerville Coming to Davis Square June 8, 2016

A culinary event returns to Somerville in June, and once again, a number of local businesses will be participating.

On Wednesday, June 8, Taste of Somerville will take place at 50 Holland Street in the city's Davis Square neighborhood, with the event running from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. This year, more than 60 restaurants, breweries, and wineries will be taking part, and there will also be live entertainment at the event.

Tickets to the 2016 Taste of Somerville go on sale today and cost $50 for adults ($75 for VIP), with children under 12 getting in for $15. (Proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Action Agency of Somerville.) Note: Tickets for the event must be purchased in advance.

Taste of Cambridge to Be Held in Central Square Tonight (July 16, 2015)

A food-based event returns to Cambridge once again this evening, after being postponed earlier this week due to the weather.

According to a press release, the 13th annual Taste of Cambridge will be held from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM in Central Square's University Park at MIT, with food, drink, a raw bar, grills, lawn games, live music, celebrity DJs, and dancing all being part of the event. Some of the restaurants and food purveyors that will be at the Taste event include 1369 Coffee House, Abigail's, Bondir, Cambridge Common, East Coast Grill, Four Burgers, John Harvard's Brew House, Life Alive, Puritan & Company, Russell House Tavern, Temple Bar, Toscanini's, Wagamama, and many others.

2015 Boston Bacon and Beer Festival to Be Held at Fenway Park, June 20, 2015

A popular event that features two favorite food and drink items is returning to Boston once again, and this year, the event will be held at one of the city's truly iconic spots.

On Saturday, June 20, the sixth annual Boston Bacon and Beer Festival will take place in the concourse at Fenway Park, with the event going from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. As always, the festival is a fundraiser, this time raising money for Community Servings, Lovin' Spoonfuls, and The Red Sox Foundation. This year, guests will receive 16 tickets redeemable for 1.5-ounce beer samples, and they will also be able to buy certain beers after their use up their tickets. Tastings of bacon-based food items are unlimited until the participating dining spots run out, with a few of the restaurants at the event being Audubon, Brasserie 28, El Pelon, Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant, Night Market, Savvor, Shojo, Sweet Cheeks BBQ, Vee Vee, and West Bridge.

Taste of Somerville to Be Held in Davis Square June 3, 2015

A culinary event is coming back to Somerville in June, and as always, a number of restaurants and food/drink purveyors will be taking part in it.

On Wednesday, June 3 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the 2015 Taste of Somerville will take place at 50 Holland Street in the city's Davis Square neighborhood, with the event featuring food, drink, and live entertainment. Some of the participants this year include Aeronaut Brewing, Bergamot, Brass Union, Casa B, Daddy Jones, Diva Bistro, Foundry on Elm, Highland Kitchen, La Brasa, PJ Ryan's, Sabur, Taza Chocolate, and many others.

Taste of the North End Coming to DCR Steriti Memorial Ice RinkTonight (May 1, 2015)

A culinary event returns to a Boston neighborhood tonight, and as always, a number of local restaurant and food purveyors will be taking part in it.

According to a press release, Taste of the North End will be held at the DCR Steriti Memorial Ice Rink on Commercial Street from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM this evening, with funds raised from the event helping to support local charities. Some of the dining spots that are participating include Antico Forno, Artu, Bricco, Ducali, Il Panino, La Summa, Lucca, Sail Loft, Taranta, Tresca,  Vito's, and many more.

Taste of the South End to Be Held March 3, 2015

An event that helps raise funds for the largest AIDS service organization in New England is returning to Boston in early March.

According to a press release, Taste of the South End will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at The Cyclorama at Boston Center for the Arts on Tremont Street from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM (6:00 PM for VIP), with more than 40 local restaurants participating. This year, the event will include food samplings along with complimentary beer and wine, cooking demos, a silent auction, raffle, and a Mystery Box game. A few of the dining and drinking spots that will be at Taste of the South End include Aquitaine, The Beehive, Davio's, Flour, Haley House, Myers + Chang, South End Buttery, Tremont 647, and many others.

Battle at the Brewery - Dundee V to Take Place in Boston February 23, 2015

A culinary competition that raises money for charity is on its way to the Boston waterfront.

On Monday, February 23 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the 5th Mick Dundee Pie Challenge (Battle at the Brewery - Dundee V) will be held at the Harpoon Brewery beer hall on Northern Avenue, with Boston chefs competing against each other for a championship belt along with the chance to give $2,000 to the charity of their choice. The MC of the event will be Patrick Maguire, who writes the restaurant industry blog "Server not Servant" and is also the owner of restaurant consulting company Maguire Promotions.

The event will include the donation of $2,000 to hunger relief organization Community Servings from the last Dundee challenge, which was won by Chin Kuo of Saus in Boston.

Tickets to the Mick Dundee Pie Challenge cost $60, which is good for up to four people and includes access to the event, 12 mini pies, and one Harpoon beverage for each person. (A cash bar will be available from 9:30 PM to last call.) Please note that tickets must be purchased in advance.

UPDATE: Operation Dine Out to Be Held February 24, 2015

[Ed note: This article was updated on February 4 to reflect a new date for the event.]

A culinary event is on its way to the Boston area for the first time ever, and it will be raising money for Boston's Finest.

According to a press release sent this week, the Boston Police Foundation will be hosting its first annual Operation Dine Out, which will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 [note--the event had been postponed on January 28 due to weather issues]. A number of local restaurants will be participating, with a percentage of their sales that day supporting the Boston Police Department; the goal of the event is to raise awareness and help fund the foundation's programs such as "Text a Tip," "Crime Watch," "Crime Stoppers," and "Officer Wellness and Safety." A few of the dining spots that are participating include Alma Nove, Cask n Flagon, Church Boston, El Pelon Taqueria, Michael's Deli, Russell House Tavern, South Street Diner, Vito's Tavern, and many others.

Greater Boston Food Bank's Super Hunger Brunch to Be Held January 24-25, 2015

A food event that helps raise money for a hunger relief organization is returning to the Boston area once again, and once again, nearly 20 restaurants are involved.

On Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, January 25, The Greater Boston Food Bank will be bringing the 33rd annual Super Hunger Brunch to the region, with participating restaurants having special menus with prices set at $25, $35, and $50 per person, and for every dollar spent, people in need will get to have three nutritious meals. As of this writing, the restaurants involved include Blue Ginger, Burtons Grill of Burlington, Craigie on Main, Dillon's, 80 Thoreau, The Fireplace, Grill 23 & Bar, Kirkland Tap & Trotter, La Morra, Michael's Harborside, Nix's Ten Center, Post 390 Restaurant, Precinct Kitchen + Bar, Rialto, Stella Restaurant, and Tosca.

Burrito Bowl IV to Be Held at Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake, January 31, 2015

A burrito competition is returning to Boston once again, and once again some of the best-known chefs in the area will be participating.

On January 31 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Burrito Bowl IV will take place at Poe's Kitchen at the Rattlesnake on Boylston Street in the Back Bay, with the event featuring chefs who compete to make the best "bowl-style" burrito in the eyes of both guests and the competition's referees/judges. Chefs who are participating include Chris Damian (Papagayo), Jose Duarte (Taranta), Yohni Aldana (Estelle), Jim Hoben (El Pelon), Leo Asaro (Tico), Uri Abragimovich (Poe's Kitchen), Allan Rodriguez (El Centro), and Chris Douglass (Ashmont Grill and Tavolo), while the "refs" are Jenny Johnson (NESN's "Dining Playbook"), Scott Kearnan (Zagat Boston), and Tom O'Keefe (BostonTweet).

Taste of Jamaica Plain to Be Held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Parish Hall, October 2, 2014

A culinary event that features the restaurants of Jamaica Plain (and other neighborhoods of Boston) is returning, and this year, it will actually be held in Jamaica Plain.

According to an article in the Jamaica Plain Gazette, the 2014 Taste of Jamaica Plain will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Parish Hall on Brookside Avenue on Thursday, October 2 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the event including food samplings, live music, a silent auction, raffle, and children's activities. A few of the restaurants that are participating include Bella Luna, Bukhara, Dogwood Cafe, Grass Fed, Ula Cafe, Vee Vee, and Wok n Talk.

Last year, Taste of Jamaica Plain was held in West Roxbury because its usual venue was undergoing renovations at the time.

FTW! Food Trucks Watertown to Be Held September 13, 2014

A food truck event is on its way to a western suburb of Boston, and it will include a beer garden and entertainment from a well-known DJ.

On Saturday, September 13, FTW! Food Trucks Watertown will take place at The Arsenal (behind 311 Arsenal Street), with the festivities going from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Confirmed trucks at the event include Bone Daddy, Chicken n Rice Guys, Cupcake City, Dining Car, Latin Spoon, Mei Mei Street Kitchen, Munch Mobile Kitchen, Renula's Greek Kitchen, Rhythm Wraps, Roxy's Gourmet Grilled Cheese, Sheherazad, Stoked Pizza, Tenoch Mexican, and WOW BBQ, with drinks coming from Backlash, Bantam Cider, Baxter, Boulevard, Coronado, Foolproof, Grey Sail, Newburyport, Notch, Slumbrew, and Two Roads. Red Sox DJ TJ Connelly will be supplying the entertainment at FTW! Food Trucks Watertown, which is a "pay what you want" event (between $2 and $10, with a suggested price of $5).

According to the event page, a shuttle will be operating continuously from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM between Harvard Square in Cambridge and The Arsenal.

Union Square Donuts Wine and Donut Brunch to Be Held at the Boston Wine School, August 2, 2014

An event that features an unlikely food/drink pairing is coming to Boston this weekend.

UrbanDaddy mentions that the Union Square Donuts Wine & Donut Brunch will take place at the Boston Wine School on Saturday, August 2, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with the event being a tasting workshop that pairs--you guessed it--wine and donuts. UPDATE: Taste of the Seaport to Be Held in South Boston, August 14, 2014

A culinary event is on its way to the South Boston waterfront, and it will include food from a variety of local eateries.

On Thursday, August 14 [NOTE: Moved from Wednesday, August 13 due to the bad weather], Taste of the Seaport will take place at the South Boston Maritime Park (at the intersection of D Street and Congress Street) with the event going from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Free samples of food will be offered by such places as Aura, MC Spiedo, 75 on Liberty Wharf, and Sweetgreen, and there will be live music as well.

On Thursday, July 17 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM [note--moved from Tuesday, July 15 due to the weather forecast], the 12th annual Taste of Cambridge will take place at Sidney Street and University Park in the city's Central Square neighborhood, with food, drink, lawn games, live music, celebrity DJs, dancing, and more included. Taste of Allston to Be Held June 28, 2014

A food event is returning to a Boston neighborhood this weekend, and as always, a number of local eateries will be participating.

According to an article in the Allston-Brighton TAB, the 17th annual Taste of Allston will take place tomorrow (Saturday, June 28) at Harvard's Murr Center on North Harvard Street, with the event going from 12:00 to 3:00. The article says that more than 20 restaurants will be taking part in this year's Taste of Allston, with some new dining spots being at the event (the article mentions Roxy's Grilled Cheese and Lulu's being there).

Tickets to the 2014 Taste of Allston cost $25 in advance and $30 at the event, with unlimited food samples and one free alcoholic drink--with a valid ID--included (each addition drink is $5).

2014 Taste of Quincy to Be Held June 17

A culinary event is on its way to Boston's southern neighbor this month, and as always, a number of restaurants and food purveyors will be taking part in it.

According to an article in the Patriot Ledger, Taste of Quincy will be held at the Best Western Adams Inn on Hancock Street in North Quincy on Tuesday, June 17, with the event starting at 5:00 PM. Food samplings will be offered from approximately 30 local businesses, including such spots as Abby Park, B Cafe, Babycakes, Early American, Fratelli's, La Paloma, Pho Hoa, Punjab Cafe, Siros, Tony's Clam Shop, the Wheelhouse Diner, and more, according to the event's website.

Chefs in Shorts to Take Place at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, June 20, 2014

A "grill-off" returns to Boston once again in June, and a number of local chefs will be participating.

On Friday, June 20, the 17th annual Chefs in Shorts will be held at the Seaport World Trade Center along the Boston waterfront from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with chefs creating dishes for guests in an outdoor setting (desserts, beer, and wine will also be offered). A few of the chefs participating in the event include Paul Wahlberg (Alma Nove),  Paul Sussman (Back Deck), Matt O'Neil (Blue Ox), Jason Albus (Fairsted Kitchen), Andres Cruz (Lucca), Anthony Caturano (Prezza), Jose Duarte (Taranta), Andrew Hebert (Trade), Suzi Maitland (Trina's Starlite Lounge), and many others.
