Room and Board Will Be Moving into the Former Otherside Cafe/Island Hopper/Bhindi Bazaar Space

The twists and turns concerning the corner of Mass. Ave. and Newbury Street in Boston's Back Bay continue, as it now appears that the original plans (which had apparently been scrapped toward the end of 2011) are now back in place.

The Boston Globe is reporting that furniture chain Room & Board will indeed be moving into the northwest corner of where Mass Ave. and Newbury Street meet. An article we posted last November mentioned that the Minnesota-based company had been looking to open in this spot, taking over the space where three restaurants resided at the time--Otherside Cafe, Island Hopper, and Bhindi Bazaar. The plans reportedly fell through a month later, but since then, all three dining spots have shut down.

Room & Board is hoping to open toward the end of 2013, according to the Globe.

Thanks to Adam's Hospitality & Tourism Industry Blog for bringing this to our attention.
