Restoration Hardware Decides Against Opening Restaurant Next to Back Bay Store

A few months ago we reported on the possibility of a California-based luxury home furnishings chain opening a restaurant next to its upcoming Back Bay store. Now it appears that plans for the dining spot have been put on the shelf.

The Boston Herald is reporting that Restoration Hardware, which will be located on Berkeley Street, has decided not to open a restaurant adjacent to its shop, instead planning to add a brick-paved courtyard, benches, and a fountain on the Boylston Street side of the space (pending approval from the Back Bay Architectural Commission). Their original plans had been to open a basement-space eatery that would have been set up in the style of "19th-century conservatory annexes," complete with two gas fireplaces.

The address for the upcoming Restoration Hardware is 234 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA, 02116.
