Fairmount Grill Is Opening in Hyde Park

A new restaurant is coming to Hyde Park, moving into the space where an Irish dining spot used to be.

Universal Hub is reporting that the Fairmount Grill is opening on Fairmount Avenue, taking over the former Townsends spot. (Townsends closed last winter after being in business for approximately four years.)  If it receives approval from the city of Boston, the new eatery will likely be an upscale but reasonably priced American bistro with a possible 1:00 AM closing and an outdoor patio out back with a capacity of 25.

The Fairmount Grill is hoping for a transfer of a full liquor license from the now-closed Clarke's at South Station.

[June 4 update: According to one of our readers (and confirmed by the restaurant's Facebook page), Fairmount Grill opens its doors this evening.]
