Night Market Is Opening in the Former Tamarind Bay Space in Cambridge's Harvard Square

It looks like a new restaurant is coming to Cambridge's Harvard Square, and it will be taking over the basement-level space where an Indian eatery had been.

The Restaurant Hub blog of The Boston Globe mentions (via the Harvard Square Business Association) that a new dining spot is looking to open in the former Tamarind Bay space on Winthrop Street. (Tamarind Bay closed in August, a few months after its other location in the Washington Square section of Brookline shuttered.) No information on the proposed restaurant is available at this point in time, so keep checking back for updates.

Two other restaurants are slated to open on Winthrop Street in Harvard Square as well, including an unnamed dining spot that will move into the space where UpStairs on the Square will be until the end of the year and a new Shake Shack [now open].

[January 3, 2014 update: A License Commission General Hearing page on the City of Cambridge website indicates that the new restaurant opening in the former Tamarind Bay space will be called "Night Market," with the 58-seat eatery planning to be open for lunch and dinner daily.

[November 14, 2014 update: Eater Boston mentions that Night Market will be an Asian street-food spot with one possible item on the menu being deep-fried crickets.]

December 8, 2014 update: UrbanDaddy states that Night Market opens tomorrow.]

The address for this upcoming restaurant that will be opening in the Tamarind Bay space is 75 Winthrop Street, Cambridge, MA, 02138.
