Shake Shack Is Opening in Boston's Back Bay

Yesterday we reported that a new Shake Shack officially opened in the Harvard Square section of Cambridge, and today we have learned that yet another location of the New York-based burger and shake place will be coming to the area, with this one being the first to open in Boston proper.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that a new Shake Shack will open in the Back Bay, with the eatery coming to Newbury Street later this year. The article mentions that this location could be a bit larger than the brand new Cambridge location, with the space apparently being 5,000 square feet, while the Cambridge shop is 4,000 square feet. Once it opens, the Back Bay outlet of Shake Shack will be the either the third or fourth in the region, with the first Boston-area location opening in Chestnut Hill in March of 2013 and one coming to Dedham at about the same time as the Back Bay outlet [NOTE--the Dedham shop opened on March 1, 2015].

[May 1 update: According to a Licensing Board page within the City of Boston website, the new Shake Shack on Newbury Street is seeking a beer and wine license from the now-closed Cigar Masters, which had been on Boylston Street until closing over the winter. The hearing will take place on May 7.]

[February 26, 2015 update: According to a press release, the Back Bay location of Shake Shack opens on Monday, March 2.]

The address for this new restaurant in the Back Bay is: Shake Shack, 234-236 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02116. The website for all of the locations can be found at http://www.shakeshack.com/

Thanks to Eater Boston for bringing this to our attention.
