The Boston Herald is reporting that Daisy Buchanan's on Newbury Street is planning to close possibly on either November 6 or November 7, as the building in which it resides has been sold and will be redeveloped into high-end retail space. The article also mentions that the Daisy's sign was stolen sometime over the weekend and that the bar is offering a $500 reward for its return (bar spokesperson George Regan says there will be "no questions asked" as far as the retrieval of the sign is concerned).
An earlier article from the Herald says that co-owner Joe Cimino is looking for another home for Daisy Buchanan's, which first opened in 1970.
[November 6 update: A phone call placed to Daisy Buchanan's indicates that it is still open today, contradicting a lot of the social media chatter last night and today saying that it had closed for good last night.]
[November 12 update: A new post on its Facebook page indicates that Daisy Buchanan's will be closing at the end of business hours today.]
[November 13 update: ConciergeBoston confirms that last night was definitely the "last night" for Daisy Buchanan's, though The Boston Globe says that the owners of the bar are hoping to reopen Daisy's in another spot "within a year."]
The address for the soon-to-close Daisy's is 240 Newbury Street, Boston, MA, 02116.
