Underfire Is Opening in Boston's Back Bay

A new bar and lounge where customers can cook their own food is coming to Boston's Back Bay, and it is connected (both literally and figuratively) to a well-known restaurant with a somewhat similar concept.

Boston Magazine is reporting that Jim Miller and Rafael Barbosa of Fire + Ice on Berkeley Street are opening Underfire, a dining and drinking spot that will be under Fire + Ice within the same building. (Other locations of Fire + Ice can be found in Cambridge, Providence, and Anaheim, CA.) The article says that the new spot--which will have room for 80 people--will feature lava rock cooking, with diners searing such items as steak, scallops, and tuna on 600-degree stones, and it will also offer tacos, build-your-own-burgers, and bar snacks.

If all goes as planned, Underfire will open on April 18, according to Boston Magazine.

[April 20 update: Underfire is not yet open, but it looks like a soft opening will be taking place later this week.]

[April 24 update: A note from Foodservice East indicates that Underfire is now open.]

The address for this new spot in the Back Bay is: Underfire, 205 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA, 02116.
