In Devra First's final review for The Boston Globe before becoming the newspaper's new food editor, she mentions that Ran Duan of Sichuan Garden II/Baldwin Bar in Woburn is planning to do a remodel and expansion of the original Sichuan Garden in Brookline Village, which his parents run. Currently, the Washington Street dining spot has no real bar area to speak of, instead being a Chinese restaurant that serves beer, wine, and cocktails with meals; the Woburn location is much different, with the Baldwin Room being an award-winning bar that has gained national recognition. (A new lounge area is now open upstairs as well.)
Both the Brookline and Woburn locations of Sichuan Garden have been featured by our sister site (Boston's Hidden Restaurants), with the review of the Brookline restaurant being at this link.
