East Coast Grill in Cambridge's Inman Square Is Closing

A well-known name on the Cambridge restaurant scene is getting ready to shut down.

The Boston Globe has confirmed what we started hearing yesterday, that the East Coast Grill in Inman Square is closing (with the Globe saying the closing date is January 23). This comes after sources told us last night that the restaurant was up for sale while chatter on Twitter indicated that the dining spot was locked up yesterday evening. (The initial Twitter post said that the chairs were up, the lights in the dining room were off, and no employees were visible.)

East Coast Grill was established in 1985 by the nationally-recognized chef and restaurateur Chris Schlesinger; in 2012, he sold the dining spot to three members of the East Coast Grill team (Jason Herd, Robin Greenspan, and James Lozano). The restaurant has been known in part for its seafood and BBQ dishes, along with its legendary "Hell Nights" that focus on hot and spicy food items.

The address for East Coast Grill is 1271 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA, 02139. Its website can be found at http://eastcoastgrill.net/
