Honeycomb Creamery Opening Ice Cream Shop in Cambridge

It looks like a small batch ice cream company is going to be opening a shop in Cambridge, moving into the space where a candy store had been.

A note sent from Rich O's Ravings indicates that Honeycomb Creamery is planning to open on Mass. Ave. between Porter Square and Harvard Square in the former Evelyn and Angel's space, with a Facebook post from the business confirming this. The people behind Honeycomb are Kristen Rummel, who has worked at such places as Union Square Donuts in Somerville and Clear Flour Bakery in Brookline, and Rory Hanlon, who comes from a business background. The company specializes in freshly-made craft ice cream such as chocolate hazelnut, dark chocolate crunch, brown sugar vanilla bean, salty honey. and cinnamon coffee, and it also makes house-baked waffle cones. It is not yet known when Honeycomb Creamery may open; the Facebook post mentions that an open house will take place on April 5 while a meeting with the Board of Zoning Appeals is scheduled for April 14.

Evelyn and Angel's, which closed in December, may be moving to a spot in Arlington at some point.

The address for the upcoming Honeycomb Creamery is 1702 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02138. Its website can be found at http://www.honeycombcreamery.com/

[September 26 update: Eater Boston states that Honeycomb Creamery opens its doors on Wednesday, September 28.]
