Biagio Express in Waltham Has Closed

A quick-service Waltham eatery affiliated with a nearby Italian dining spot on "restaurant row" has shut down.

According to a source, Biagio Express closed over the weekend, with a message sent from the people behind the Carter Street spot confirming that it is indeed no longer in business. Biagio Express was a takeout place that was under the same ownership as Biagio Ristorante & Bar on Moody Street, with the quick-service spot first opening in early 2015, taking over the space where Mimi's Roast Beef had been for more than 30 years. The eatery was a weekday-only place that offered salads, sandwiches, brick-oven pizza, and pasta dishes.

Biagio Ristorante & Bar, which is an upscale Italian-American place located across the street from the now-closed Biagio Express, remains in operation.

The address for Biagio Express was 3 Carter Street, Waltham, MA, 02453.
