Whole Heart Provisions Is Opening in the Smith Center in Cambridge's Harvard Square

by Marc Hurwitz

An Allston restaurant that focuses and vegetarian and vegan food--and which has a connection to a group of grilled cheese spots--may be expanding to a building in Cambridge that is undergoing a large-scale transformation.

According to a source, Whole Heart Provisions is looking to open within Harvard University's Smith Campus Center on Mass. Ave., with a Board of Zoning Appeal page confirming this, showing that James DiSabatino of the original location on Cambridge Street in Allston is listed as the petitioner. The page shows a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items offered, including vegan huevos rancheros, build-your-own grain and veggie bowls, street food snacks such as falafel dogs and seared avocado, and drinks such as kombucha, lemonade, coffee, and tea. The Smith Center, which opens in the fall of 2018, will also have such dining spots as Swissbakers, Bon Me, and Pavement Coffeehouse as well.

Whole Heart Provisions first opened in Allston in the fall of 2015, with DiSabatino and Rebecca Arnold (Sarma, Alden & Harlow, Pain D'Avignon, 606 Congress) being behind it; DiSabatino is also involved with locations of Roxy's Grilled Cheese in Allston, Cambridge's Central Square, Lynnfield, and South Boston (along with Roxy's food trucks), and he is one of the people behind A4cade by Area Four near MIT in Cambridge.
