Kicking Off Spring with the First Seafood Shack of the Season

Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day in the Boston area. It was a perfect day for a road trip, which is exactly what we did. We drove down to the South Coast of Massachusetts, going through Mattapoisett, Marion, and Onset, and ending up in Buzzards Bay for a late lunch. We hit a seafood shack called East Wind Lobster on Main Street, on the bridge just west of the center of Buzzards Bay. East Wind Lobster is a serious, no-frills seafood shack where the fish tastes like it came right off the boats (which it probably does, being that it is right on the water). East Wind has both indoor and outdoor seating, and while it was a nice day, it was a bit chilly on the water, so we opted to stay in.

The food was wonderful; the fried flounder was buttery and tender, and came with a heaping of delicious fries. The steamers were also excellent, and the price was pretty reasonable for them, too. Finally, the stuffed quahog that we split was a bit spicier than usual, with a tomato base to the stuffing, but it was very tasty and disappeared within a minute or so.

After eating at East Wind, I am ready for the spring, and I'm also ready to hit more clam and seafood shacks. I'm thinking that Belle Isle Seafood in East Boston may be next, but we shall see.
