Great Bay Closing in Kenmore Square

A difficult week within the Boston restaurant scene continues, as it was just announced that Great Bay, an upscale seafood restaurant within the Hotel Commonwealth in Kenmore Square, will close its doors for good later this week. According to the Boston Globe, this popular Christopher Myers and Michael Schlow venture will be shutting down on Saturday (May 30) after about six years in business.

Great Bay received many awards over the years, including Best New Restaurant in America by Esquire Magazine in 2003 according to http://www.bostonchefs.com, and Best Seafood Restaurant by Boston Magazine in 2004 according to the Hotel Commonwealth Web site.

The two other spots in the Hotel Commonwealth--Eastern Standard and the Foundation Lounge--will remain open.

Thanks to both michela and iloveporkbelly from the Chowhound site for bringing the closing of Great Bay to our attention.
