The Xtreme Eating Awards for 2009 are out, with the list including nine particularly unhealthy appetizers, entrees, and desserts from a handful of national chains that can be found in the Boston area.
According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the worst offenders include an appetizer with nearly 70 grams of saturated fat, an entree with just under 4,000 milligrams of sodium, and a dessert that supplies nearly 3,000 calories. Restaurants that are included on the list are the Olive Garden, Applebee's, Chili's, the Cheesecake Factory, the Red Lobster, and Uno Chicago Grill. The dishes that made the list tend to be popular items, such as the half rack of baby back ribs at Chili's, the fried macaroni and cheese at the Cheesecake Factory, and the Tour of Italy at the Olive Garden.
