Eliot Street in the Harvard Square section of Cambridge has seen two of its restaurants close of late, namely Shabu Square and Greek Corner. And a new Middle Eastern restaurant called Falafel Corner has just opened where Greek Corner used to reside, offering customers the choice of takeout or sitdown dining.
Falafel Corner is a tiny place, with the ordering area being at the top of a short flight of stairs, and a shoebox-sized dining room below street level. The menu features such dishes as falafel, baba ghanouj, grape leaves, tabouli, lentil soup, yogurt cucumber salad, chicken shawarma, and kafta kabobs. A variety of rollups are offered, as well as dinner plates, with prices for nearly all entrees being well under $10. Drinks include Turkish coffee and Arabic tea, while the dessert list has cashew fingers, bassma, and a few other items.
The address for this new Middle Eastern restaurant in Harvard Square is: Falafel Corner, 8 1/2 Eliot Street, Cambridge, MA 02138. The phone number is (617) 661-3433.
