A popular local chain of Italian dining spots has closed one of its locations. Bertucci's, a Massachusetts-based restaurant chain that is known in part for its brick oven pizzas, has shut down its Brookline Place location on the edge of Brookline Village. According to a Wicked Local blog entry, the Bertucci's at Brookline Place was supposed to close late in 2008, but the owner of the property--Children’s Hospital--extended the lease of the restaurant. But a call placed by Wicked Local confirmed that the Brookline Bertucci's is now closed. And a check of the Bertucci's Web site by us indicated that the Brookline location has indeed been taken off its locations list.
Bertucci's got its start in 1981 in the Davis Square section of Somerville and now has nearly 100 locations across New England and the East Coast of the United States. About 40 of those locations can be found in Massachusetts alone.
