Banjos Roast Beef Is Back on Track to Open in Cambridge

A roast beef place that was supposed to open last year in Cambridge--and whose two other locations south of Boston closed--appears to finally be getting ready to open soon. Banjos, a quick-food place that features roast beef, burgers, hot dogs, and a variety of comfort food dishes, now has their logo on the windows of the old KFC building at the corner of Mass. Avenue and Walden Street just outside of Porter Square, and work is seemingly being done once again to the inside of the place. This restaurant was supposed to open well over a year ago, but progress ground to a halt and the building has been dark for many months.

Banjos started out in Brockton in 2007 and opened a second location on Route 3A in Weymouth in early 2008, but around the time that the Weymouth location was first opening, the Brockton location shut down. And this past winter, the Weymouth Banjos also closed its doors, and work on the Cambridge location stopped soon thereafter.

At this point, it is uncertain as to when Banjo's will open in Cambridge, but based on the work being done to the place, it should be fairly soon, so keep checking back for updates.

[February 1 update: A call was placed to Banjos today to check on their status. Their opening date has been pushed back (they will not be opening today after all). They are now hoping to open on Thursday, February 4.]

The address for this new roast beef and quick-food place near Porter Square is: Banjos, 2072 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 02140. The phone number is (617) 661-0777.
