A Sampling of Lesser-Known Ethnic Cuisines in the Boston Area

As is the case with most large cities, Boston (and the surrounding area) has no shortage of ethnic restaurants. But the Boston area has more than just Thai, Indian, and Brazilian restaurants; indeed, some cuisines that you may never have tried before can be found at restaurants around the city and the surrounding suburbs. Some examples are below:

Afghan: Helmand, Cambridge

Albanian: Arbri Cafe, Roslindale

Algerian-Tunisian : Baraka Cafe, Cambridge (Central Square)

Argentinian: Tango, Arlington

Armenian: Karoun, Newton

Belgian: Scutra, Arlington

Burmese: YoMa, Allston

Cape Verdean: Restaurante Cesaria, Dorchester

Costa Rican: Boca Bar, Waltham

Filipino: JnJ Turo Turo, Quincy

Guatemalan: Paisano Restaurant and Bar, Waltham

Haitian: Bon Appetit, Dorchester

Malaysian: Island Hopper, Boston (Back Bay)

Nigerian: African Cuisine, Hyde Park

Senegalese: Teranga, Boston (South End)

Ugandan: Karibu, Waltham

Some cuisines that we do not think can be found in Boston-area restaurants include Bolivian, Czech, Ecuadorian, Laotian, and Sri Lankan, to name a few, but if you can think of dining spots that feature any of these cuisines (or others that are hard to find), please let us know, thanks!
