User review site Yelp and online reservations provider OpenTable have banded together to help Yelp users make restaurant reservations without having to leave the site. According to SFGate (the San Francisco Chronicle) and several other sources, users who are logged into Yelp will be able to make online reservations directly on the site, and will not need an OpenTable account in order to do it. The article also mentions that people who use the same email address for both Yelp and OpenTable will be able to continue earning dining reward points on the OpenTable site.
Yelp, which was founded in 2004 and currently has tens of millions of people visiting the site monthly, is a site that allows users to write reviews on restaurants as well as a variety of other businesses. OpenTable, which started out in 1999, is world's most popular restaurant reservations site, with more than 13,000 dining spots currently using the site to help bring in diners.
